False, which would be clear to the untutored had the session been "led"
by Joe Morello instead of Brubeck. The session is first and foremost a
percussion tour de force by Morello, who went on to gain legendary Zen
Master/Guru status as a teacher on the West Coast.

Just as NO pianist worth mentioning would travel through Boston during
the Sixties without dropping in at Madame Chaloff's (mother of the late
great Serge Chaloff) on Comm Ave for a	lesson, so too with drummers,
and Morello. He was the West Coast's Alan Dawson (also from Boston, the
late great Tony Williams' teacher).

As for Brubeck, his contribution to jazz piano was totally optional. It
was Bill Evan's that was mandatory. You can get away with not listening
to Brubeck. If you don't listen to Evans then you will just suck.
