The use of new fonts, new graphics, new cover art, etc., does not restore or
transfer or grant a new copyright in the now public domain work.

It does, however, create a new work.

And if you were to make printing plates of the new work, with the new fonts,
and new graphics and new cover art and were to create knockoff books just
like those, you would violate the new copyright.

But the text which has passed into the public domain, remains in the public
domain.
