How outrageously difficult would it be to transfer this discussion to a
slashdot-like website, with a similar rating-by-points system, and
threaded messages?

I did just subscribe to the "announce" list, but haven't yet received
one of those so I don't know if they will contain highlights from the
discussion or only major news updates -- I would be quite happy to see
someone, or maybe several people, go to the trouble to select the most
informative/insightful posts for a "lite" version of the list (and clean
up all the redundant re-quoting).  I've heard several other people say
that just reading all this is a full-time job, and I agree.

So I suggest that a *few* of us do that work so the rest of us can have
it easy.  Heh.  No really.  Any other ideas?
