AGENDA
09:45 --- COFFEE AND A CHAT

10:00 --- GREETINGS FROM YOUR COGSWELL HOSTS --- Tim Duncan
Tim will definitely be there and we're hoping he'll say a few words.

10:10 --- FORTH DAY 2008
Suggest a speaker or volunteer to speak!

NOTE: As of this writing we have not heard from Ting. If he shows up,
he may be taking the AM session.

10:30 --- BOOK TALK DEGENERATING INTO RANDOM DISCUSSION --- Kevin Appert
I plan to bring a few Forth Books and chat about them. You're welcome
to bring your favorite weighty tomes as well. Then we'll digress into
some discussion impossible to predict.

NOON --- LUNCH
Some folks bring their lunch, some folks go to Togos.

13:00 --- INTRODUCTIONS, ANNOUNCEMENTS, RUMORS & GOSSIP

13:20 --- FIELD TRIP LOGISTICS --- Kevin Appert
We'll talk about plans to visit the Iron Man Museum in Sunnyvale some
Saturday coming "soon".

13:25 --- COMING ATTRACTIONS: SELLAM IN OCTOBER
Sellam Ismail is coming next month. I expect he'll talk about the
vacation the Vintage Computer Fest is taking this year and his plan to
get volunteer help with what had been mostly his one-man show.

13:30 --- NEW AT IntellaSys --- John Rible et al
(I hope Al can make it!)
"IntellaSys announced the s40c18 today, complete with Elizabeth-written
manuals, so we may have a few things to talk about."

14:00 --- LOTS OF DOTS --- Kevin Appert
Kevin will discuss the creation of 7x9(or so) dot matrix ROM font tables
for LCDs with SwiftForth or Excel Spreadsheets. If you're labeling
plots or graphics on raster displays this may come in handy.

15:00 --- RANDOM ACCESS
We always find _something_ to talk about.

15:30 --- HERMAN REMEMBERED --- ALL ASSEMBLED
We'll spend a few minutes talking about our memories of Herman

16:00 --- ADJORN

*** IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT GETTING INTO THE MEETING ***

Cogswell now secures its doors on weekends. There will be an
SVFIG member at the door unless he's gone to get coffee or pee
because he's had too much coffee. He'll only be there BEFORE
the meeting to let you in so please try to get there before the start.
If you are attending an SVFIG meeting for the first time, please
bring along a printout of the agenda to identify your interest in
Forth and gain admission. If you arrive after 10:15 AM there
will be a number for you to call to alert someone of your presence
at the door. The front door will also be checked at intervals of 20
to 30 minutes to accommodate those without cellphones.

VERY IMPORTANT:
Do not under any circumstances let any stranger past the Cogswell
doors. Those who are authorized to be inside have key-cards, except for
us, of course.

10:40 --- FORTH DAY 2008

11:00 --- FIRMWARE ENGINEERING WORKSHOP FOR ARM7 --- CH Ting
"I just finished the flash programming part of this DSO project. On
booting, eForth copies itself from Flash memory to RAM and runs from
RAM. Application written in FORTH is compiled to dictionary in RAM.
The extended image of the entire eForth system can now be written back
to Flash memory. After reset, the new image is copied from Flash and
runs correctly in RAM. This last leg thus completes the firmware
development cycle."

NOON --- LUNCH
Some folks bring their lunch, some will eat on-campus or nearby.

13:30 --- INTRODUCTIONS, ANNOUNCEMENTS, RUMORS, RANDOM ACCESS

14:00 --- MUSIC EDUCATION --- Masa Kasahara
Masa has spent a great deal of time searching for the ideal platform to
run his music education programs. He has looked at many handheld devices
which would provide the portability required to practice anywhere.
Important feature include light weight, commercial availability, ease of
use, ease of developing programs, and PC compatibility. Masa is
investigating the Allegro multi-platform game library for this project.

14:30 --- RANDOM ACCESS
Will it be random or just pseudo-random? We always find _something_ to
talk about. Will videos be shown? Maybe.

16:00 --- ADJORN
