[Taocow PBEM] Chapter VI: Whence The Lizard Man?

With a bright blast, lightning strikes the robotic horse, but rather than
impacting it, causes what must be an energy field of some kind to suddenly
glow violet.

> Alex has never seen a weapon inflict as much damage as this one. She
> decides that it is simply too devastating and returns fire back at the
> weapon, attempting to make a called shot on the weapon itself. She is

[GM]
The shot is near-perfect, but the rider's energy field absorbs it, though it
now emits a bright violet light that makes looking at him difficult for
those without optics.  The impact, while not injuring the rider, his gun or
the horse, knocks them back, and it appears that the rider has to make a
great effort to stay on.

> Rod returns fire with his weapon, aiming down the barrel (difficult, but

[GM]
As with Alex's shot, Rod's bracer attack should have hit the gun square on,
but the energy field is in the way.  It is now, however, visibly sputtering,
and there's a high pitched whine eminating from the the vicinity of the
rider.

> Seeing his companions get hit by the monster with the railgun , Osiris'
> face turns into a snarl as he extends his hand in a shoving jesture
> towards the leader which should get him stuck on the carpet of adhesion.

[GM]
The giant rider is pushed back, but at the last possible moment grabs the
heavy reigns of his horse and keeps himself from falling into Rod's
Carpet of Adhesion.

Osiris then opens fire, trying to hit the powerful gun, but instead hitting
the energy field.  While not a great shot, an audible hiss can be heard and
then the strong smell of ozone.

[Kyle]
Kyle opens fire, simply aiming for the rider rather than for the gun.  The
rounds cause the energy shield to glow brightly again, and then there is a
loud POP! and the last round can be seen striking the rider in the chest.

> It knocked back, wincing at the bruise he'll have under his body armor,
> then he takes his own rifle, takes careful aim, and fires at the exposed
> head of the lead rider. He mutters in elvish, "Let my aim be true."

[GM]
Arden aims and fires, the shot hitting the man on the side of the head,
tearing away part of the helmet and deeply burning the rider's face.  The
rider screams in agony.

> Lady Frost is suddenly very glad she hadn't shifted back to her 'human'
> form after the incident at Griz's shop.   That blast still wouldn't have

[GM]
Lady Frost tears a rock out of the ground, at least one hundred and fifty
pounds, and with a might heave tosses it at the man.  The rider tries his
best to dodge without falling off his horse, but makes what proves the wrong
decision and remains mounted as the rock hits him in the chest and throws
him to the ground.  The rock is laying on his arm, and on top of the gun,
with only the now very bent barrel visible.

> Alex follows with a smoke round and declares, "Do we stay or run?"

[GM]
The air fills with smoke, until the point where the would-be attackers
can't really be seen, but only heard whimpering.  A loud, rhaspy groan comes
from what must be the giant.

"I think we should run." Phaeton says.  "With that mystical carpet of Mr.
Black's we can't restrain them, and I certainly don't want to wait until
they are free.  What say the rest of you?"
