[Taocow PBEM] Chapter XIX - Rath-Iren

The leading blue dwarf simply disappears in a hale of energy.

Despite her indomitable will, Alex is clearing tiring.

OOC: I know this is combat, but I'm not going to bog it down at this
point with initiative and all that.

One of the sailors, a handsome young man with a well-trimmed red
beard nods.  "Aye, m'lady.  That'd be most appreciated."

Alex's bursts hit two of the dwarfs [Damage: 40MD, 20MD].  One of the
dwarfs has a hole blown through its armor, and it falls down dead.  The
other survives the blast but ducks for cover. The blue creatures are
suddenly a lot more careful, and are looking for cover, but still very
clearly trying to reach the temple.

> Not wanting to wait for those statues to  block his way, Koba takes
> off at a full sprint to get past them before the only entrance is
> shut. Pistol in hand to return any shots that try to slow him down.

"By all the Gods!" one of the sailors shouts.  "Are ye mad, man!"
Despite that, he tries to cover Koba [Strike: 11], hitting one of the
dwarfs [Damage: 10MD], but not killing it.

> "Koba, wait!" Ted begins, but realizes his words fall on deaf ears.
> Raising his rifle, he prepares to cover his companion should the
> statues attack him.

> Owen will aim his rifle and fire on the moving statues.

[GM]
One of Owen's shots misses one of the statues, but the other hits
the other statue [Damage: 19MD].  The shot blackens that statue,
and suddenly it's moving a lot faster, and makes a grab for
Koba [Strike: 7].

[GM]
Koba attempts to dodge [Dodge: 5], but the statue grabs him by
an arm.  The strength of that arm is terrifying.

[Ted]
Ted fires a few shots at the statue [Strikes: 4,19,2].  Two of the
shots miss the statue and hit the building [Damage: 39MD],
taking out some rather large chunks of the stone.  One of the
shots does hit the statue [Damage: 18MD].
[/Ted]

[GM]
The other statue moves quickly to cover its partner, as the
partner flings Koba into the temple.  Koba finds himself falling
down a long flight of stairs and, despite body armor, hits the
bottom, feeling dazed and bruised.  As he comes to his senses
he finds himself next to a stone door with runes on it, slightly
ajar.

Meanwhile, above...

> Once off the skycycle Talas draws his weapons. A Katana in one

Talas hits three of the blue dwarfs trying to make their way to
the temple [Damage: 20MD,21MD,14MD].  The force of the
railgun bursts knock the blue dwarfs flying.  In short order,
Talas finds himself face to face with two very animated statues.

The other sailor tries to offer Talas some supporting fire [Strike:
20, not natural], striking one of the statues with an aimed shot
at the head [Damage: 28MD].  The shot clearly does do some
damage, as a small piece of the head is blown off, and a strange
black steaming fluid wells out of it, hitting the temple stairs with
a sharp, acidic smell that causes the stone it touches to hiss,
smoke and melt.

[Carlos]
Carlos opens fire on the blue dwarfs within the temple complex
from the CR-4T laser on the Skycycle [Strike: 18, 15, 11].
[/Carlos]

[GM]
The shots strike three of the dwarfs [Damage: 16MD, 23MD, 33MD].
Killing one of them, and forcing the other two to leap under some of
the ruins for cover.

Suddenly the pterodactyl launches into the air with incredible speed
and launches itself at Carlos.

The brave adventurers are now confronted with blue dwarfs, two
walking statues and a pterodactyl, and one of their number, Koba,
has been thrown inside the temple.
