[Taocow PBEM] Book 3 - Chapter II - Talas and Carlos

While the others make ready to go down the hatch to the reactors,
Talas and Carlos make their way back.  They're only down the
passage a few feet when they almost get swept away by water
flooding into the opened hatch.  Once they catch themselves,
however, they find movement much easier.  Within a minute or so,
they're back where they started.  Above can be seen at least
two dozen fishmen rushing towards where they left the rest of their
companions.

More trouble is ahead, however.  They can clearly see three fishmen
lifting one of the floor grates above.  It seems likely that they will be
caught, when suddenly there is a loud explosion.  Some of the
fishmen have triggered Lyle's grenade trap.  The fishmen above
abandon their tasks and rush to the scene of the explosion.

Within minutes Carlos and Talas find themselves at the other end.
This end of the passage is somewhat different.  There is a similar
map, except that it shows that directly above them is also a passage
to a docking tower.  Still there is a hatch directly in front of them
and a hatch at their feet, with only a few inches of water underneath
it.

Talas opens the hatch with little effort and within moments they are
in a long dark shaft, about five feet in diameter.  A ladder leads
down but after about a dozen feet, goes under water.
