>> She [Alex] also spies a door labeled "Armory" which would likely
>> be where an recharger would be found.
> Alex is going to see about getting into the armory. She will see about
> recharging her e-clips if so and maybe replacing her used grenades.
At the moment the armory is unlocked. A guard eyes Alex uneasily, but
is too preoccupied to make a case out of it. Besides, she came with
the Baron, so she must be alright.
Inside she finds a poorly stocked armory, most of the shelves and
racks empty. Still there is an e-clip charger that takes four at a
time. She recognizes the device more by its familiar form than its
wording, which is "Schnelle Energie-Clip Ladegerät."
OOC: I'm assuming Alex begins recharging her e-clips.
>> [GM]>> One of the baron's officers, a man named Sir Havalard, who has dined >> with a couple of times, is busily giving instructions to a young woman >> in knight's armor, and she crisply salutes him.>>
>> "Yes, Mr. Wolz." Sir Havalard says. "How can I assist you?">>
>> As the knight is talking to Oz, there's a cry from one of the watches. >> "They're bombing the town!">> [/GM]
> Oz waves his hand at the group. "You can see this is a well armed group,
> Sir Havalard. Is there anywhere in particular you would like to have a
> group of well armed irregulars?"
"In a few minutes, probably up on the walls firing at whatever gets to
us." Sir Havalard replies. "I'm afraid our job now is simply to hold
the keep long enough for the locals to get away."
> He turns to look up in the sky, scanning for bombing aircraft or plumes of
> smoke from the ground, more to gauge the direction of attack than anything
A bomber can be seen flying north towards the keep. The plumes of
smoke are coming from the south, where the town is. Multiple
explosions can now be heard.
>> "Do you think the Baron would be upset if we decided to hightail it now?
>> I'm all for spontaneous acts of bravery, but this looks like suicide."
> Oz shrugs. "I suspect that if we, ah, 'high tailed it' now, we would get
> bombed into oblivion before we could reach any sort of cover." He gestures
> the group closer and looks to make sure Sir Havalard wasn't close enough to
> "I have heard there is an escape tunnel somewhere in the keep, but I have
> not seen it. It supposedly exits a good distance from the keep proper. We
> could attempt a search, but that is as likely to be a futile effort as not."
> "Forget the passage. We should head for cover," the lizard man advises,
> "preferably outside the city."
> "Gentlemen, I can offer an alternate way out. A rift. I will need energy but
> with so many wishing to leave it should not be so hard to find some to lend
> me there strength. If I am to do this thing I need to know now. I also need
> people to lend me willingly some of their mystical energy every living being
> has some. A small rift to somplace on the same world is still draining
> but if I am to do this I need to start now. Otherwise I agree with Ted."
> Oz looked at Vesper, expression suddenly intent. "Random or directed?
> How far can you take us? As far as the capitol?"
"Right now I'd take random!" she says. "I don't think this place is
going to see dawn, and it's pretty clear the soldiers left here are
simply trying to draw fire."
OOC: Did the baron go inside or is he hanging around somewhere? REPLY:
The Baron is still hanging around looking scared and useless.
> "It would be a full rift and could take us to Camelot if that is the
> destination people wish. Though I say it may be under attack like this
> place with the amount of forces Atlantis is hurling at England. That's
> why I need power, if I am to save many not just a handful it needs to
> be a full rift."
> "Start getting people together, hold hands is best to transfer power. I
> could absorb enough to open the rift but I want to save as many
> as I can so get everyone in one place now."
> Oz nods at Vesper and goes over to the knight he had spoken with earlier.
> "The group's shifter is going to open a rift to escape the battle. We
> intend to travel to New Camelot; you should inform the Baron and have
> someone assemble any wounded and noncombatants who might be better
> placed in the capitol."
"Take the Baron then," Sir Havalard says, showing a slight bit of
disapproval. "He can tell the King in person how his holdings were
smashed to bits, or how he *thinks* they were smashed to bits."
> Alex hears explosions outside, and hurries out. She also radios
> up, "What is going on out there. There is what sounds like muffled
Someone replies on the radio in a panicky voice, "They're bombing the
town! They'll be on top of us soon enough."
As Alex leaves the armory she can see her companions and several other
people assembling and holding hands around one of the newcomers;
Vesper. The wounded are being brought into the courtyard as well."
"Alex!" Louissa shouts. "Hurry up. Vesper here is going to try to rift
us out of this place."
Even as Louissa speaks, there's a loud "WHOOSH!" from above, and then
an explosion. The company, along with everyone else, are knocked to
the ground as pieces of metal, masonry and rock rain down on them. The
air is filled with smoke and dust, and there is a good deal of
