>>> [Vesper]
>>> Vesper Laughs, "I suppose I should, still it seems we encounter
>>> enough strangeness for several worlds in our travels. Yet the
>>> company is pleasant." He smiles over to her, "Our weapons
>>> perhaps you could all focus on lasers and more quiet weapons
>>> to dispatch the Kydians, "I think we can do it, my spells are mostly
>>> silent and if need be I could summon something to help us."
>>> [/Vesper]

>> [Louissa]
>> "What we need is a distraction." Louissa says. "If those Kydians are
>> preoccupied, then maybe we can take them out quickly."
>>
>> She counts out the number of people assembled. "There are five of us
>> and thirteen dwarfs, that ought to be enough even for some big bad
>> Kydians."
>> [/Louissa]

>> [GM]
>> Therane looks to Vesper. "What kind of distraction can you provide? We
>> have, unfortunately, lost our most talented mage, so we cannot help."
>>
>> Skarn nods. "As your friend here suggests, there are many of us. I am
>> not a tactician, but it strikes me that between all of us and your
>> ship, we might have a chance to get in, do some real damage, rescue as
>> many as we can and be away from here before anyone has a chance to
>> hit us hard. Most of you do look like military experts, so what do you
>> think?"
>> [/GM]

> [Oz]
> Oz holds up a hand to slow down the planning. "As long as 'quietly',"
> he does air quotes with his fingers around the word, "is off the
> table, I'm sure we can take care of them. The problem is that we came
> here to purchase cold iron for (ooc: I don't remember what we need it
> for, but insert that reason here). We are happy to help you and kill
> kydians, even provide passage out of here for you, but we need cold
> iron in exchange."
> [/Oz]

> [Vesper]
> "I can provide some distraction, as well as call up something to help
> in that regard."
> [/Vesper]

[GM]
At the mention of "cold iron", Therane's eyes narrow. "That is an odd
trade; our survival for our most valued asset..." she says.

Skarn seems much more pragmatic. "It won't do use any good if it all
ends up in the Splugorth's hands. Better to hand a bit over to these
good people in return for aid, than to have none. Besides, who knows
what the Splugorth will do with it. Our own experiments suggest that
its properties are greater than simply building cages for supernatural
evil."

Therane thinks for a moment, then nods. "Very well, we accept your
terms. If we can rid ourselves of the Splugorth, you may take away
some of our cold iron."

Skarn seems relieved. "We may have a chance!" he says. "So tell me,"
he turns to Vesper, "what kind of distraction can you produce?" He
turns to the others, "Some of you seem seasoned soldiers. I can guide
you to a vantage point where you can see the Kydians, and you can see
for yourself what we're up against."
[/GM]

OOC: I'm going to assume that Vesper, Oz, Ted and Alex follow the young dwarf.

[GM]
Despite the relatively short distance, it takes some doing to get to
the vantage point Skarn is talking about. There is a considerable
amount of snow on the ground, and the forest around here seems
tangled, almost intentionally so, as if to keep people away from the
dwarf settlement.

Slowly making their way up an embankment, they reach the top, peek
over and see the Kydian outpost.

It is a platform standing on four metal legs. The platform is about
forty feet in the air, giving a commanding view of the area around it.
The platform itself is round; perhaps twenty feet in diameter, with
heavy energy weapon turrets, and a Kydian at each turret; able to see
north, east, south and west.

A ladder leads to the ground, and an armored hover vehicle sits there.

The ground itself has been cleared; the vegetation burned away in
about a hundred foot radius around the platform. It would be all but
impossible to sneak up on the platform without being seen.

Beyond the platform and the burned clearing, the ground tends upwards
to a tall stand of bare trees; perhaps oaks. The trees are perhaps 130
feet beyond the platform Skarn points towards it, "The tunnel is right
below those trees."
