Monday is the 99th anniversary of the 1906 quake. Anyone
showing up for the 4:45 (AM!) ceremony at Lotta's Fountain
(market and kearny) ?
In years past, the fire dept gave out booze but I understand
this was stopped as it cut into their reserve.

Just a note for anyone who has considered attending this in the past
but never managed to get out of bed -
Next year will be the 100th anniversary. It will be a complete
madhouse, and you probably won't be able to get anywhere close to
Lotta's Fountain or the stage where the ceremony happens. So if you
want one last opportunity to check this out while it's still a
manageable crowd (probably 150 or so these days), then this is your
year. Or else you can wait until 2007, but then there will be even
fewer original survivors, and the event will be passe. So I recommend
that anyone who has never attended before to go this year.
"Yeah, the Earthquake Anniversary was so much cooler before they moved
it out to Nevada..."

Well, there's always the Gold Dust which opens at 6am.
