Queen Victoria signed the declaration of war against Russia in 1853 as "Victoria, Queen of Great Britain, Ireland, Berwick-upon-Tweed and all British Dominions". But she signed the peace treaty without Berwick-upon-Tweed. So technically, there's a case to be made saying that Berwick-upon-Tweed is currently at war with Russia. What's so special about Berwick-upon-Tweed? It kept getting transferred between Scotland and England. Who did it end up with? It's technically part of England, these days, but I like to lay in bed and pretend that the Reform Act of 1885 never happened. Oh. A peace treaty was signed between the Soviet Union and the Mayor of Berwick-upon-Tweed in 1966. This is the sort of thing that children should be taught in school.
