Unmanned bus crashes into SF apartment again

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A bus hit Hung Ngo's condominium -- again. For
the sixth time in 3 1/2 years, an unmanned Municipal Railway bus
crashed into Ngo's home near Ocean Beach. ``We're still waiting for
the city to settle our claim for damage in the last accident,'' he
said Wednesday. That was on New Year's Day last year. Ngo, who wasn't
hurt in Wednesday's crash, is still being treated for a neck injury
sustained in the 1997 accident that knocked him off his couch. The
crashes began shortly after Muni moved the terminal for two Balboa
Street bus lines by half a block. ``In almost every instance, it
involved parked and unattended buses that began to roll,'' Muni
spokesman Alan Siegel said.

After last year's accident, Muni put in
speed bumps and gave the drivers blocks to place under the tires. But
because the hill isn't very steep, they sometimes forget, Siegel said.
Muni officials are looking into the incident, he said. Ngo, who was
not at home during Wednesday's crash, said a family member described
the damage as ``worse than before.

``Muni has to do something about this before somebody gets killed,''
he said.
