Forgive me if you've heard this anecdote before:  When I attended
my first meeting of the San Francisco FidoNet sysops' group
(at Muddy Waters Cafe on Valencia), I introduced myself by saying
"Hello, my name is Dave Rhodes."  This was later averred to be
a brave gesture on my part.

(The classic pyramid-scam text, hated passionately by sysops worldwide, 
starts out with that exact phrase.)
