Is Viv still alive? I seem to remember he went nuts some time ago
and then completely disappeared. He did those few spoken word
records (Rawlinson's End) and hung out with Keith Moon.
Aha! Just did a quick web check and found he did suffer from
serious schizophrenia and died in a house fire :-(. It also reminded
me that he narrated on Robert Calvert's "Captain Lockheed and
the Starfighters" (Hawkwind maaaaaan!) which I haven't listened
to in aeons (although I have been listening to A Space Ritual).
Concerning the Sailors' Hornpipe version, that was only
available in the boxed version (quadrophonic!) and you neglected
to mention that he and Mike were completely ossified when making
the tour to the extent that Viv's speech deteriorated to repeating
"Buggered if I know".
If you want all the versions you'll also have to pick up
the picture disc version which has some mystery noise (chainsaw?)
at the end.
Sad to hear he's finally gone...
