Well, let's say that Transmeta is desirous of competing in the "internet
appliance" market along with Be and that DOES require a GUI layer and a
web browser. Think of little info kiosk things. That's a primary space
that BeOS is headed for. Given that we're talking,  much like some of the
QNX systems, a 16MB flash setup with no hard disk, it's a pretty tight
constraint.

Granted, not all embedded systems are like that. After all, I work at a
company that doesn't use X on its embedded systems. Technically, it
doesn't have a web browser, but it does have an http client.
