My "job" (Was: [CrackMonkey] Req: svga video-driver...)

Years ago, OCBC bought into some Compaqs & HPs for its office on
Broadway, from some suede-shoes at Mercury Computer, just down the
street.

Bought into Windows, and Window-bound software.

Mercury Computer's gone, gone, gone; and OCBC moved into the space it
had occupied.

Now they're trying to make the move to linux, while continuing to do
God's Work, and while hampered by the pitiable revenue-stream of a
non-profit membership organisation with more compassion than
business-sense. We were close to making Big Bux, 'till the Supreme
Court put the kibosh... but that's a side show.

So, for a dozen hours a week I repair M$-stuff, and try to find a way to
the Promised Land... in which task I'm handicapped, 'cause...

... I'm really naive about Actual Linux... not just talking about linux,
but getting it to Actually Work. At work.

In a sense, I *am* too chicken to quit.

So, thanks for your encouragement.

!To linux.
