Things went better than expected! We met at the Gold Dust, and while
waiting for everyone to show up Frank buzzed by twice. The first time
was too early to start the ceremony, but the next time, Josh ran
outside and convinced him to go to the cable-car turnaround on Market
so we could do out stuff.

While Frank walked down to Market Street, accompanied by Josh and the
1525 video crew, the rest of us followed behind holding up the 'Thanks
Frank' signs that Tina made. It was quite a procession as we cut
through tourists and locals alike, many asking, "Who the hell is
Frank?" (A few people figured it out and cheered us on.)

At the tunrnaround, Josh delivered a great speech while everyone else
applauded at key moments, and damned if Frank didn't break out into a
little smile! We gave him the certificate and the shoes, while all the
tourists waiting in line for the cable car looked on in that perplexed
stare that seems to define most of our activities. The 1525 people
captured everything on video, which they'll presumably make available
on their web site (http://www.project1525.com). In all, about 20
people or so attended the affair.

After we concluded the ceremony, Frank went off to the side to put on
his new shoes, which fit perfectly, and we realized that we had given
him a lot of unexpected items to carry in addition to his sign (which,
incidentally, is quite heavy - I got to hold it while we shook hands).
I asked him what he wanted to do with his old shoes, with the
intention of offering to mail them to him if he wanted, but instead
Frank said that he was going to throw them out! We immediately asked
if we could keep them, and Frank said yes, so we now have in our
possession one pair of official Frank Chu Impeachment-tested shoes! He
also gave us his Oakland address so we could mail the framed
certificate, rather than have him carry it around for the rest of the
day.

Finally, we asked if there was anything else we could do for him, and
Frank didn't hesitate to ask for a donation. I think we collectively
contributed around $25 - not a bad sum from a bunch of weirdos
reluctant to part with their drinking money. Having done so, we gave
Frank one last round of applause, let him on his way in his new
footwear, and we headed back to the Gold Dust to wind down and reflect
on our deeds.

Half an hour later, while we were systematically progressing through
the Special Drink menu, Frank scooted by the open doors on another lap
to justice. I swear his gait had improved and he strolled with a bit
more confidence.
