Same difference.
One thing the Interstate uniform design standards ensured was bridge
clearances sufficient to allow truck-borne missiles to be moved around. I
think it was about thirteen feet and change. Not sure. It's been too long.
It's also interesting to note that the nominal 'design speed' for
interstates was 70mph. (Based on average vehicle stopping distances and the
geometry of the highway layout affording lines of sight to match...)
Biographical note: In the dim past I was certified by the Massachusetts Dept
of Public Works to do the land survey for any federal highway the
Commonwealth decided to put across your front yard. Fun job. Long lunches in
local taverns, etc, etc. But I digress.
