No, seriously.  AI has thrown up a lot of useful technology, but we're
no closer now to modelling consciousness than we were in the 60s.
Shit, we don't even know what consciousness *is*.  Where is one's
mind, for example?  Being an unimaginative geek, I tend to presume
that it's the electrical impulses flickering around in the blancmange
I call a brain, but I can't prove it.

So all that AI can do now is badly model very limited problem domains
using fragile systems and knowledge bases.  And provide wankstains
like Ray Kurzweil with a sinecure.
