I don't know to what extent (if at all) diplomacy is a factor in Dmitry's 
case, but I read that John Tobin, an American Fulbright scholar arrested 
earlier this year in Russia on drug charges, has been paroled halfway 
through his 1-year sentence, following a unanimous vote of his parole
