>> For the moment, the orb hovers nearby, and everyone is able
>> to chip and get the breach filled, at least temporarily. The hull
>> sealant that Alex found is likely the more permanent solution,
>> though getting this ship out of the ice is the only way to save it.
>>
>> When the leak is temporarily stemmed, Veronique pumps some
>> PPE into the orb, and the result is rather dramatic. It grows by
>> about eight inches in diameter, and its suction force becomes
>> much much stronger, to the point where pieces of debris get
>> sucked into it, and everyone has to stand well back not to get
>> pulled in themselves.
>>
>> After a minute or so, the orb shrinks down to its original size.
>> Clearly at least PPE is a form of energy that can influence it,
>> though adding energy is clearly dangerous. One thing is certain,
>> this thing could be one heck of a weapon.

> "This will take time to figure out. Though that display of pumping
> energy into it helped in understanding this thing. What I do with
> magic this does with technology. I can try to counter it but may
> fall under attack. Ted needs my help though so I am going to
> make the effort."
>
> Vesper tries to figure out how to free Ted.

> [Veronique]
> "It won't help our trapped comrade, but maybe we can destroy
> the orb next time it appears if we use this device on it, and
> have the two devices suck each other up."
> [/Veronique]

> [Alex]
> The Ranger shakes her head, "I want our friend back." She
> does not speak it but after all the whole reason for being here
> is due to him.
>
> Switching gears, "Does the airship have any heavy lasers
> which can be used to melt the ice around the ship."
> [/Alex]

[GM]
Alex quickly recalls that the ley line ship has sufficient heavy
energy weapons on board that it literally turned an entire hillside
into molten rock a couple of days ago. Even thick pack ice should
prove no problem. The ley line ship is being repaired right now, which
might take a day or two, but if nothing catastrophic happens, it
should be able to easily free the ship.

> [Vesper]
> "I am not going to do all this and not try to rescue Ted. He
> saved many lives himself and is a friend. Let me try and see
> if it can be reversed to expel people instead of just suck them
> in."
> [/Vesper]

> [Alex]
> "Problem is that I have no clue how to even try?" Alex
> responds, something plaintive in her voice.
> [/Alex]

> [Veronique]
> "I'm at a loss in how to get the victims of the sphere out myself,
> I've been hoping if we destroy it that it will free whomever is
> trapped inside. Of course we have no way of knowing that for sure".
> [/Veronique]

[GM]
While the company puzzles over the problem, stuffing junk into the
hole in the hull has slowed the leak down considerably. Of course,
power will have to be restored before the pumps can start getting rid
of the water already there, but for the moment, at least, the ship is
in no danger of sinking.

Vesper is pondering every bit of knowledge he has on dimensional
portals and anomalies, and even knowledge on related fields of magic.
After some thinking, he's fairly certain that this is some sort of
technowizard device. He also senses that this isn't simply some sort
of pocket dimension, but rather the orb is a gateway to a much larger
dimension. The precise purpose of the orb is hard to determine with so
little information, but such a device could be a powerful weapon, if,
for instance, unleashed on an enemy encampment or an army. Since this
is some sort of technowizardry or biowizardry, it is also likely that
the device is being controlled by a sentient or semi-sentient entity,
much as a rune weapon is possessed of such an entity. In that case,
perhaps psionics might be the best approach, to attempt contact with
whatever is controlling the orb.

As they speak, the smell of sulfur and brimstone returns, and then orb
appears again, darting between shipping containers, but not getting
too close.
