It seems that everyone she knows and likes dies or just disappears. 
First, almost her whole team when she still served the Coalition all 
because her lieutenant antagonized the wrong political figure. They got 
sent to fight teh bugs and die. Now, two companions have died with this 
group.

The scout goes over to where Bongo disappeared and looks to see if 
anything is left. She turns to the others, "Anyone know what happened to 
him? I have never seen anything like what happened to him."
