Alas, that is exactly what I am paid to do.  I'm aware it's damaging
me.

I don't know if they understand it, but they are well aware of it:
over sixty Exchange servers and counting.  Over eighty domain
controllers and another lash of file-and-print servers for the
MIS-managed domain, and there are a bunch of other domains belonging
to different parts of the company.

The politics and cliques have to be experienced to be believed.
