Indeed, that's what you get from connecting in parallel
batteries with significantly different voltages. 

However, I wouldn't know a reason to do so.

In all, connecting batteries in parallel (w/o diodes)
is not an unusual concept, nor are instructions to 
employ batteries of identical type and `freshness'.
