Hi all,

I just joined the list today, so I don't know if this information has been 
posted already: I recommend checking out the Educause site if you're 
looking for a primer on how the DMCA came to be. The URL is:

The articles in the "Washington Updates" section at the bottom provide a 
good, concise history. What really got my attention is that the DMCA passed 
the Senate 99-0. Keep this in mind if you're writing to your Senator.
