Katy's having a Mol Day party in Berkeley, to celebrate Avogadro's
Number (I think I'll have to write an Advogato story about it too).
This holiday is particularly popular among chemists and their friends.
"Better living through chemical constants!"

And don't forget Pi Day, coming up in March.

After the Mol Day party, I am probably going to go to watch Sumana
doing stand-up comedy at Blake's on Telegraph, and people from the Mol
Day party are welcome to join me for that.

If you want an accurate value for Avogadro's Number, here's the
current CODATA number:

Subject: Mol day!

Dear friends:

This Tues, 10/23, at 6:02pm, is international Mol day. On this day,
chemistry lovers (and lovers of chemists...) everywhere gather to pay
homage to Avogadro and his number, approx 6.022 x 10^23 , from which we
derive molar mass and many other wonderful things chemical.

And so, you are invited to join me for a pint (or tea, or pizza, or
whatever) in honor of Mol day.

Meet at 5:45-ish at Jupiter brewery, with the big toast slated for 6:02p
sharp, with festivities lasting till 7:30ish. Bring a coat, in case the
weather is nice enough for sitting outside.

Jupiter is on Shattuck, just south of the corner of Center and Shattuck,
where the downtown Berkeley Bart stop is located.

Please RSVP by email, and bring a friend(s) if you like.
