Christie's is auctioning Jeremy Norman's phenomenal "Origins of
Cyberspace" book collection, which Norman built up over many years.
The collection contains many of the original documents that are
fundamental to computer technology, including manuscripts and papers
by great computer pioneers like Babbage, Shannon, Turing, Wiener, von
Neumann, and Eckert and Mauchly. Much of the collection is first editions
or original manuscripts. At last year's California International
Antiquarian Book Fair, several history of science dealers told me that this
collection is the best private collection on computing history in the world.

Before the auction takes place later this month, Christie's is giving
a series of public previews of the highlights of this collection. One
of the previews is at Stanford University on Feb. 14 and 15.
